Page live/expiry dates
The Editor can select appropriate dates and choose to hide the
content when the expiry date is reached or leave it visible.
This allows the date and publishing times to be controlled. When
content approaches expiry the system automatically notifies the
author and those in the workflow, by e-mail, that the page is about
to expire. The time interval is configurable by an administrator
e.g. 5 days before expiry. Further emails are sent, typically at
daily intervals until the content is re-visited.
This feature is ideal for special announcements, stock market
sensitive news, financial reporting and so on. Content can also be
set to expire at a given date, allowing information with a limited
lifetime to be removed automatically, and preventing the problem of
old and out of date news.
Versioning
Whenever a page is approved, the previous version of the page is
archived along with a version number. Site administrators can view
the list of archived pages, review the actual content and restore
any version they choose. When a page is restored the current
version is archived. This allows content to be 'rolled back' and
'rolled forward' again, which not only facilitates content
recovery, but can also be used to switch between short term
versions.
