Personalisation

Administrators can define categories that editors can then easily apply to pages. This powerful functionality is developer extensible and can be used to drive custom menus, related links, news lists and so on.

For example, a Government organisation may mark some content with an 'Resident' category and another with a 'Visitor' category, still other items may be marked as 'Business'. Users visiting the home page may then select from option buttons that indicate whether they are a resident, a visitor or a business user. Content that has been marked accordingly will then be presented to the user in a menu.

A subscription service is available that allows users to register an interest in content and to be kept up to date with changes in the requested sections by email.

A full membership system is incorporated into Immediacy. This allows sections of the site to be password protected and accessible to registered user groups. Once authenticated, content and menus can be personalised depending on a users access rights.

Various other personalisation schemes are possible, such as displaying different content via templates specific to a user group once logged on. Examples of these capabilities can be found in the section on functionality.

The system is very open and developer extensible using the in-built 'plumbing' of membership, metadata and flexible template application, so virtually any personalisation scheme can be implemented.
