Search and Retrieval
Without effective search and retrieval, many knowledge
management scenarios would fail. There’s no point spending time and
energy adding content and documents to a system if you then can’t
access them quickly, effectively and accurately.
Immediacy has created several search solutions during the
lifecycle of its products so far, including a proprietary solution
and use of Index Server. For the Content Suite, Immediacy has
chosen to integrate with an open source, and widely respected,
solution called Lucene.
This has provided more powerful search capabilities to be
implemented, such as search term highlighting and summary
abstraction, and also for integrated web content and document
retrieval. This capability is ideal in knowledge base scenarios
where accurate retrieval from a wider source of information is
required in order to answer questions effectively, either directly
from a website or via an intermediary, such as a call centre
operator.
