Alterian Technology Powers Award-Winning Website for Sexual Health

 

SHO-me campaign recognised by DoH and NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement

 

LONDON, UK – 18 August 2009 – The SHO-me (Sexual Health Online for North East London) awareness raising campaign, which was developed in partnership with Alterian and Merchant Healthcare Marketing, has won the regional award for Innovative Health and Social Care Technology from the NHS and the Department of Health. The campaign was run by the NHS North East London Sexual Health and HIV Network to raise awareness and educate the population of North East London about the sexual health services available to them, and to motivate them to take advantage of these services. One of the cornerstones of this award winning campaign was a brand new interactive website for the Network – www.sho-me.nhs.uk

 

The North East London Sexual Health and HIV Network required the new website to be dynamic, engage with visitors from North East London and have all information available at the click of a mouse. The website also had to be accessible to all, including those with disabilities, and scalable in the future. To meet all of these requirements Merchant Healthcare Marketing chose Alterian's Web Content Management (WCM) technology – Content Manager Corporate Edition.


Ben Sturt, Director of Digital for Merchant Healthcare Marketing commented, "The site needed to be designed to sit at the heart of the campaign as a central portal to engage and inform residents from the North East of London about its services. We decided to build the website with Alterian's Web Content Management software as it gave us the flexibility to adapt the website content and allowed us to run a far more targeted online campaign and contribute to the overall success of the project".

 

Amanda Douglas, Public Health Strategist for NHS City and Hackney, said "The results of the SHO-me campaign really do speak for themselves. Within the first month the website attracted more than 3,500 unique visitors and 5,200 people interacted with the Network through the integrated campaign. We have since had a further 2,200 unique website visitors every month.
