Immediacy is built on the Microsoft
ASP.NET development environment. This means that our software
automatically provides a powerful development environment and
allows you to develop your sites using some of the most advanced
software development tools available.
Powerful Framework
In addition to the core Microsoft .NET framework, Immediacy
provides an
additional, powerful toolset for creating and
managing websites. Menuing, permissions,
membership, templating, workflow and
error handling are all taken care of by
Immediacy.
Immediacy is extended via the use of plugins, which are
essentially .NET server or users controls. Developing these
controls is straight forward, or if you already have exisitng .NET
controls these can usually be called from Immediacy with little or
no modification.
High Quality User Interface
Non-technical users are able to create and maintain their own
content pages, leaving you to concentrate on creating innovative
and engaging functionality for your site.
The Immediacy editor creates very "clean" XHTML compliant
content and can even automatically convert Word and Excel documents
into "clean" XHTML.
Pre-built Starter Sites
Immediacy comes supplied with a number of "starter" sites which
provide both useful examples of how things should be done, and also
get your development project off to a flying start.
If using one of the supplied sample sites with minimal
modification, it is possible to have a fully accessible, content
managed web site with a search, site map, news section in only a
few minutes.
Of course, many sites require more than just the basic
functionality in which case we have an extensive catalog of "plugins" that perform a range of
common tasks.
Staging / Production Server Deployment
Immediacy supports a sophisticated model for maintaining a
"staging server" inside your corporate network and synchronising
content automatically with one or more "production servers".
This all works over port 80, so no special firewall
configurations are required.
Templating
Like most content management systems, the layout of Immediacy
pages is controlled through the use of templates.
Immediacy templates are very simple and very flexible. At a
technical level, templates are just html files with embedded
plugins (controls) to handle navigation and other dynamic content.
Our templates include full support for XHTML and CSS.
Multi-language enabled
Creating multi-language websites can be a complex
undertaking, but Immediacy makes it a lot less painful. When
running a site in multi-language mode, an alternative language
version of the each page is stored and the appropriate version
rendered depending on the .NET culture applied for that web
visitor.
Scalable
The Immediacy publishing engine uses highly optimised code
and makes full use of .NET's performance features such caching and
pre-compilation. Immediacy also supports deployment on a
server farm for very high traffic sites.
Training & Documentation
Extending Immediacy requires minimal specialised training as it
leverages the use of standard skillsets such as .NET and MS SQL. We
run regular comprehensive 2 day developer courses to bring
you up to speed with the Immediacy specific knowledge that
will help you get the best from our software.
